An ex VAT calculator helps you find the price before VAT is added. This is often called the net price. It is useful for business quotes, purchase checks, bookkeeping and invoice reviews.
Ex VAT means excluding VAT. If a price is £100 ex VAT and the VAT rate is 20%, the VAT is £20 and the total including VAT is £120.
Ex VAT = Inc VAT price ÷ (1 + VAT rate)At 20%, this means dividing the VAT-inclusive price by 1.20.
You can also use the reverse VAT calculator to remove VAT from gross prices.
